# Welcome

> The One is a desktop app where one main assistant takes your requests and hands the work to teams of AI agents on your own computer.

The One is a desktop app for macOS and Windows by The Zeroth. You tell its **main assistant** what you need. Anything bigger than one answer becomes a **matter** with its own board, and the assistant hands it to a **working group**, a team of AI agents that does the work on your own computer.

## How the work is organised [#how-the-work-is-organised]

* **The main assistant.** Every Space has one permanent assistant, and it is the first place to go. It answers what it can, opens matters for the rest and follows them up.
* **Matters.** A matter is a board of cards: what waits for you, what happened day by day, and the matter itself with its goal, working groups, checklists, links and files.
* **Working groups.** A working group is a team of agents built from a working-group template, a Graph. Its questions and deliveries arrive on the board as cards, and you can also talk to it directly.
* **Needs you and the morning report.** Questions only you can settle and deliveries to judge wait as cards in the main assistant's conversation and in **Needs you**. Each day the main assistant greets you with what happened, and the **Morning report** sums up what was delivered, what still waits for you and what it cost.
* **Triggers.** Schedules, webhooks and new mail, orders, files or pages keep recurring work going while you are away.
* **Teams and tools.** The working groups the main assistant picks from, and the roles, Skills, prompts, external tools (MCP), models and Plugins your Space holds. In a Space of your own, the main assistant and the evolution lab can improve them too.

## Nothing is a black box [#nothing-is-a-black-box]

Multi-agent work is only worth trusting if you can see it. In The One you can watch a matter's working groups in **Theater**, read each of their Agents' messages, tool calls and context, and review each change block by block. Agents do not stop to ask permission for each step. Instead, everything they do is recorded in the **Action log**, and files they changed or deleted can be put back.
